Forest School
For three terms a year all of our children have access to Forest School provision. Although the Forest School Leader plans exciting activities linked to their topic work, the focus is on child led activities and ideas. This gives them the opportunity to be creative and work on a larger scale in our stunning school environment. They learn different skills including: fire lighting, whittling, weaving, building and identifying. This encourages them to grow in self-confidence and resilience, as well as developing team- building, co-operation and learning to assess and take managed risks.
Trips and visits
At Pauntley we believe that children learn best when they get the chance to experience learning first hand - Children regularly have off site learning opportunities through visiting places of interest linked to their topics.
Malvern Class have in the past visited the Roman Baths, Cheltenham Science Festival, Aerospace - Bristol, as well as using the local lakes and river for study.
May Hill Class have been to Raglan Castle, The Birds of Prey Centre, Dean Heritage Museum, as well as using the local village to study homes.
As a school the local area is used for seasonal walks such as Blackberry Picking and the Daffodil Walk.
Visitors are welcomed to enhance the children’s learning. For example Steve the Roman Legionary, Roaming Reptile Man, and parents/carers who have specialist skills or knowledge.
